It has now emerged that the jailed former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan reddy-owned Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) had also violated the Supreme Court orders on mining.
The apex court had ordered the OMC in May 2010 that mining should not be taken up in a jurisdiction of 150 meters on either side of the actual border between the AP and Karnataka.
However, throwing the SC orders to the winds, the OMC took up mining in the prohibited area, according to an affidavit submitted to the CBI by Mr Nagarjuna Reddy, sub divisional forest officer of Penugonda in Ananthapuram district.
The forest official has also submitted documentary proof with photos as an evidence of this violation.
What is worse, the OMC had also laid out a road to the mines in the Antar Gangamma Konda (AGK) in the prohibited area even before permission was given to the OMC on July 10, 2009 by the Central Mining Department for mining.
Consultant agrees to submitting false plans
Ch. Narasimha Murthy, mining consultant working for the Geo Environmental Labs, also submitted an affidavit to the CBI saying he submitted a false and forgery test certificate to the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) in Hyderabad at the instance of Mr BV Srinivasa Reddy. (JUBS)
