Opposing the decision of the central government to introduce the copyright bill in Parliament, some Tollywood producers went on a day’s hunger strike at the Film Chamber office in Hyderabad today.
The producers are opposing the introduction of the bill which will facilitate sharing of royalties among the writers and technicians of the films. “We are dead against this bill,” said the fasting producers.
Requesting the Center to withdraw the decision to introduce the bill, the producers said that it was unfortunate that the government blindly believed the version of the writers and technicians. “The government should have consulted the producers before arriving at the decision,” they said.
The producers warned they would intensify the agitation if the government failed to take back the decision.
