Police today arrested Mylavaram TDP MLA Mr Devineni Uma for obstructing the Rachchabanda programme at Reddy Gudem where Minister Parthasaradhi participated on Friday.

Police later took him to the Mylavaram court which sent him to judicial remand till Nov 18. However, the court granted him bail on submission of a surety of Rs.10, 000 immediately.

Police earlier booked cases against him and ten others under sections 341 and 352 for barging into the Rachchabanda dais and creating hurdles at the function. Police said Uma’a supporters also attacked the vehicle of the minister damaging its front portion.

After registering the cases, police in large numbers reached his house at Gollapudi near Vijayawada this morning and arrested him when he came out. Uma’s supporters had argued and clashed with the police during his arrest.

Uma said he was only fighting on behalf the farmers who are in need of irrigation water in the Mylavaram area.
