Even as the CBI is battling to ferret out evidence and permanently put the mining mafia czar, Mr Gali Janardhan reddy behind bars in the illegal mining case, more scams are tumbling out of his cupboards.
The new scams are indirectly related to his illegal mining activity in Anantapur district. Janardhan Reddy bought 172.86 acres land from farmers in Konduru village in Lepakshi mandal of the district some months ago and transferred them to the forest department in lieu of allocation of forest land to him for mining. The transfer was made to the forest department in a matter of 24 hours by the revenue officials who never cared to verify the records.
Janardhan reddy’s involvement in the scam was exposed when one Mr Ashok of Bangalore city applied for Pattadar passbook for his 18.63 acres of land in Konduru village. But the officials told him coolly that his land was transferred to the forest department long ago by the orders of the District Collector.
Mr Ashok came to know that Janardhan reddy illegally claimed as his own nearly seven acres from his 18.63 acres of land and transferred it to the forest department.
In another scandal, it came to light that Mr Janardhan Reddy purchased 51.14 acres of land from farmers in Vanavolu and Kolimipalli villages in Gorantla mandal and registered them on benami names- Obulapuram Mining Company’s former director Dasari Rajasekhar and his associate Syed Shakir to transfer them to the forest land in lieu of the land given to him for mining.
Reports said that OMC bought hundreds of acres of land on benami names in Chilamattur mandal also expecting that its mining activity will spread to thousands of acres in forestlands.
