Congress general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh and Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has asked the T congress leaders to select a team of 5 to 10 members to initiate the discussions on finding solution to the Telangana imbroglio. They will meet him on Monday to begin the talks.
Talking to the T congress leaders who met him Friday evening, Azad told them to prepare a short notes containing past assurances of congress party on the formation of Telangana. “Please come in a small batch of 5 to 10 members and also bring with you a short note detailing the past assurances given by the party or any agreements related to it,” he told them.
Azad also told them that he would convey the gist of the discussions being held with both groups of congress leaders to party president Sonia Gandhi. “I will submit a report of discussions to Madam who will take the final decision in consultation with other senior leaders of the party. You also come with a sound reasoning in writing why you need Telangana state,” he reportedly told them.
When the T congress leaders insisted that the agenda of the talks must be the formation of the Telangana state, Azad told them talks could not be initiated with such a presumption. “Talks would be initiated on your demand for Telangana,” he made it clear to them.
Azad told the T congress leaders to meet him around 7 PM on Monday and reminded them once again to come in small batch.
Sonia wants quick solution
