Hardening their stand, Telangana Congress leaders today caused an unpleasant surprise to the AICC general secretary in-charge of AP Congress affairs and Union Minister, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad by making it clear to him they would become part of the talks if he assures that the agenda of talks is the formation of Telangana state.
Azad, who decided to initiate the talks on Telangana from today with a promise of solving the issue in the next two months, was shocked to hear of this condition from the representatives of the Telangana Congress leaders Mr. Keshava Rao and Jana Reddy.
The Telangana congress leaders, who held discussions among themselves whole day, sent the two leaders to Mr Azad in the evening to convey their condition for talks. The rest of the T congress leaders remained in AP Bhavan.
The T congress leaders doubted the sincerity of the Central Government and the congress leadership on forming the separate state of Telangana with Azad telling them yesterday that the development of the AP state was more important for them rather than the resignations of MPs.
Azad told the T congress leaders to select a team of five to ten members to initiate the discussions on the issue and come to him today for starting the talks. But the T congress leaders came to a conclusion that talks would not be of any use if the agenda doesn’t include the formation of the T state.
