The Telangana issue seems to be heading nowhere and it is back to square one again going by the latest assertion of the Union Minister and in charge of AP congress affairs Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Azad, now on a tour of China, told journalists accompanying him that it was impossible to take a decision on Telangana formation without a resolution being passed by the assembly unanimously.
Asserting that Jharkand, Uttarakhand and Chattisghad have become states after the assemblies passed resolutions, Azad said clearly that no decision could be made on Telangana with out such a resolution. “There should be a consensus on the issue among the respective political parties of the state without which no decision can be made. It is very difficult for the Centre to solve the problem,” he told media persons who queried on the issue.
Azad claimed that the party would not buckle under the pressure put up by the T congress leaders who had resigned for the simple reason that there is no unanimity among the state’s leaders on dividing the state.
“The centre is helpless as there is no consensus on Telangana and Seema Andhra people are opposing the division,” Azad said adding that the Justice Krishna Committee also failed to come up with a proper solution to the problem. “We cannot implement the suggestions given by the Sri Krishna Committee and we have now to make a fresh beginning on the issue.”
