In a day of hectic activity, the Telangana-seeking parties, groups and individuals and the T congress people’s representatives, today met separately in Hyderabad and decided to take forward the T agitation by upping the pressure on the Congress and the Centre.
While the congress MPs, MLAs and MLCs of the Telangana region have decided to submit their resignations to the respective presiding officers on July 4, the Telangana political JAC decided at a meeting to meet the President of India as soon as possible with a request to ask the Centre to stand by its December 9, 2009 statement on Telangana formation.
Speaking to media persons after a meeting of the congress MPs, MLAs and MLCs at the Gandhi Centenary Hall in the Exhibitions Grounds in Nampally, Panchayat Raj Minister Jana Reddy said that they have decided to submit their resignations at 11 am on Monday seeking the formation of separate Telangana state.
“We have taken this decision as people are running out of patience due to the delay in the formation of Telangana. People have begun doubting our commitment to the Telangana cause and therefore we have decided to quit,” Jana Reddy said.
Rajya Sabha member K. Keshava Rao, who was also present, said that congress MPs and MLAs will hand over the resignations to the Lok Sabha Speaker and Assembly Speaker respectively seeking Telangana state.
Vanta-Vaarpu
The JAC has also decided to conduct the Vanta-Vaarpu programme in all the Telangana districts on July 10 seeking the formation of the Telangana state.
