Hyderabad CID police today arrested well known Tollywood distributor-producer Mr Singanamala Ramesh in Chennai and are likely to bring him to Hyderabad tomorrow and produce him before the Nampally criminal court.
Mr S.V. Ramana Murthy, Additional Director General of Police, CID said in a press note in Hyderabad that Ramesh was arrested in Chennai on a tip-off.
Ramesh, a close confidant of Mr Bhanu Kiran, the prime accused in the case relating to the murder of faction leader Suri aka Maddelacheruvu Suryanarayana reddy, has gone underground after the police registered two separate cheating cases against him after cine financier Vyjayanthi reddy and Shalimar Video company lodged complaints against him.
Vyjayanthi reddy said in her compliant that she had loaned Rs. 7.5 Cr to Singanamala Ramesh for a movie production but he and Bhanu had threatened to kill her when she demanded her money back.
Shalimar Video Company had complained that it paid money to Singanamala Ramesh for the video rights of Khaleja movie but were threatened by Ramesh and Bhanu when it asked for the video rights.
Police believe that Ramesh is the benami for several properties of Bhanu, the suspected Suri killer. After the cases were transferred to the CID, police began a hunt for Ramesh who has been at large. Finally, they nabbed him in Chennai today.
