Digvijaya Singh wife passed away last year in February who was battling with cancer for the past five years. From then on Digvijaya moved closely with this TV anchor Amritha Rai, both gelled well and were alleged to have an illegal affair. The photos that went viral are the best examples where Digvijaya and Amritha were spotted very closely and even air could not pass between them. Digvijaya also played a crucial role in bringing Rai to Rajya Sabha TV as an anchor person and their relationship got more stronger.
As the rumors spread like a virus, still Digvijaya was silent. By then damage was severe and Digvijaya had to accept in public being a responsible politician. Finally yesterday Digvijaya admitted in the Twitter that he is in relationship with Amrith Rai and the later too did the same thing. However, Digvijaya's family is heart to be upset with this news. Diggi Raja's son Jaivardhan Singh, a Congress MLA from Madhya Pradesh expressed his displeasure and also stopped talking to his dad. “I have nothing to comment on his life,” added Jaivardhan when contacted.
Probably it will take six months for Amritha Rai to get divorce from her present husband and then the 43 year old Rajya Sabha TV anchor will tie knot with Digvijaya. BJP, AAP and many other parties are openly lambasting Digvijaya Singh for his extra marital affair and BJP hit back as he criticized their Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Reacting to the criticism, Digivijaya said that he was not hiding his relationship status like Mr Modi. Yesterday the 67-year-old leader tweeted on Wednesday, "I have no hesitation in accepting my relationship with Amrita Rai. She and her husband have already filed a mutual consent divorce case."
Likewise, Amrita also tweeted, "I have separated from my husband and we have filed a mutual consent divorce papers. After which I have decided to marry with Digvijaya Singh."
