Applying makeup is an art but unfortunately, not all of us have perfected it. Here are   seven of the biggest makeup sins that many women are guilty of committing...

1.    Never skip the neck area while applying foundation 

This often results in a foundation line that makes your face and neck appear in different   colours. Also, never wear a shade that is too light or too dark. It makes your face and   body appear in drastically different colours. Always pick something that matches your   natural skin colour.  

2.    Do not leave your eyebrows unattended  At the same time, do not pluck them into extinction. Untamed, bushy, overgrown eyebrows   are just as bad as drawn-on, nonexistent eyebrows. So, follow the natural arch of your   brows, tweeze the stray hairs, and clean up the area around your brows. It will make your   brows look natural and beautiful. 

3.    Nothing makes your lips look weirder than a combination of a dark lip liner and a   light lipstick  It makes you look as if you have a ring around your mouth. A lip liner is something you   wear to make sure your lipstick stays in place. So, by definition, it should match the   color of the lipstick. 

4.    Over-tanning makes you look old  This is especially true for women with blonde hair. The unsavoury combination of over   tanned skin and bright blonde hair does not look good on anyone. So, go easy on sunless   tanning products.  Another important thing you need to remember is to apply the tanning lotion evenly on your   skin. If not, you could end up with streaks all over your skin. So, exfoliate your skin   and apply the lotion evenly without missing any spot. 

5.    Do not try to make your cheekbones look more prominent or your nose look smaller by   applying tons of blush, foundation, and powder  The purpose of makeup is to make you look good, not to create an optical illusion. So,   always focus on soft, natural looking makeup that highlights your best features. 

6.    Nothing ruins a sultry vixen look more than runny eyeshadows  Especially, if you live in hot, humid conditions, your eyeliner and eyeshadow will become   a greasy, runny mess in no time. So, apply a little foundation underneath your eyes to   make sure the liner sets properly and stays put. You can also use a primer potion. 

7.    Never pay too much attention to one feature of your face and ignore the rest  If you want to highlight your mouth, eyes, or whatever you think is your best feature, do   it subtly. At the same time, make sure the rest of your face has a little bit of makeup on it so that the difference between your best feature and the rest of your face does not   look glaringly obvious.
