Cops record fisherman's statement in Salman Khan threat case... March 15, 2013 10:35

On Thursday, Bharatiya Janata Party's legislator Ashish Shelar raised the issue based on the justification that actor Salman Khan's bodyguards were harassing the family of a fisherman from Bandra in the legislative council. Moreover, Shelar took up the issue at the ongoing budget session of the state legislature, a day after six members of the fisherman's family recorded their statements with the police. The fisherman, Lawrence Falcon, has in his statement reported a complain that the actor’s bodyguards attacked violently on womenfolk of his family and also torched their fishing boats which were docked on the beach near Chimbai village. Fact fully, this place is known to be close to where Khan has purchased two adjacent cottages and that the actor reported that he wanted the boats and other fishing equipment moved out as they block the sea view from their home. According to Shelar, the actor had put up tin sheets to fence off the cottages without the maritime board's permission more over, Falcon says that he had lodged a police complaint, but the police seem reluctant to take action against the actor adding that the chairman of the legislative council has asked the government what action it proposes to initiate in the matter. It's really an injustice! Falcon has also declared that officials of the civic body are working at the command of the Khans while he declared that the civic officials had torn down a makeshift shed erected for the boats and had damaged plastic sheets used to cover the fishing vessels. Falcon asks a question that they been preserving the boats on this stretch for generations. Now, how can Salman Khan and his father ask us to move our boats? In fact, Falcon’s daughter-in-law, Marikin, told that their statements had been recorded by assistant commissioner of police (Bandra) Suresh Marathe. Additional commissioner of police (western region) Vishwas Nangre-Patil had ordered a probe into the matter while a report is scheduled to be submitted in a week's time. Assistant commissioner of police (Bandra)Marathe also says that the inquiry was still on but for now, we have not sent authoritative command to Salman Khan or his bodyguard. President of Perry Road Residents' Association Anil Joseph said that the police must question closely into the role of not only the bodyguards but also of the actor and his father. To conclude, repeated attempts to contact assistant municipal commissioner Prashant Sapkale did not produce any response. Now, the fact remains that it's undoubtedly an unjust or unfair action or treatment and needs to be justified whoever it may be, as law remains same for all! (AW:Samrat Biswas)

Karan Johar's contrary opinion on Censors certification... March 13, 2013 19:28

On Tuesday, Film Director Karan Johar had an contrary opinion of the Censor Board’s move to give certificate to item or special movie songs, while uttering it to be an unfair step. Moreover, Central Board of Film Certification or Censor Board has said it will examine dance numbers to see whether they are suitable for U, UA, or A certificate. In fact, the decision comes in an arouse of views expressed in certain quarters that item numbers have obscene content and portray women in a bad perspective. Karan says he is not in agreement with the Censor Board and they are responsible filmmakers and they look into  the fact of entertaining audience while he felt there is a need for stricter rules and regulations to check on crime against women. He added on that instead of this step there is a need to go to grassroots level and check on crime against women. Moreover, there is need for proper rules, regulations and laws rather than just single out film fraternity when it's only intended towards entertaining that we they do through music. There are  nautanki (sensual dance), folk music and songs and they never created the term ‘item song’ which was created by the media while he stresses that there are some talented actresses around and they dance on special songs. Even though there is sensuality to some of the songs it depends on how a person looks at them. He concludes expressing that he  feels it to be an unfair step. Perhaps if we get into the reality of the fact art and creative talents shouldn’t be seen as a sign of vulgarity then perhaps we have to demolish all ancient monuments depicting intense romantic posture through it's art and dance form likewise delete all those legendary music records created by the stars of yesterday. Let us be the change we want to see, let us change our perspective of thinking rather than playing this blame game!
