Story

The film kicks off with the entry of Suriya in a police uniform. Narasimham, played by Suriya, will return to his hometown Kakinada after his pride is avenged. The core of the movie involves how the strict police officer deals with smuggling and illegal arms by kicking up all the villains. The first half of the film has plenty of romance and the second part of the movie is action filled with an interesting twist later in the story.

Singam jumps into a fight with a gang of weapons smugglers after which he meets the first heroine Hansika. She is a student, in whose college Suriya will join as the NCC master. After a dose of comedy from comedian Santhanam, a fight ensues with Suriya explaining the National flag's importance. Here the bubbly Hansika falls in love with the hero.

Soon Anushka enters and it is revealed that her character in the movie has a past relation with the hero. He gradually manages to gain enough information about the drugs mafia. As soon as clashes start in Kakinada, hero saves the day as the DSP. How Suriya deals with the baddies as well as the love triangle forms the rest of the movie.

Analysis :

The movie is a typical romantic action thriller with plenty of comedy. Suriya as the fit cop does his part well throughout the 2 hours and 45 minutes film. Songs have average music by Devi Sri Prasad, but the dance moves have excited audiences. The action scenes in the second half are the highlight of the film.

Performance :

Suriya plays the cop role to perfection and the leading ladies aptly add glamour to the action. Both have enough screen space to act out the triangle. Santhanam and Vivek give out a decent comedy fare. The film's main attraction is the action sequences, which are choreographed well.

Final Word: Singam is for those who enjoy a lot of action. Suriya's fans can look forward to a treat.
