Ram Gopal Varma’s prestigious film, Department bombed at the box office. People who came out of theatres after watching this movie looked distressed and sad. When asked as to how the movie was many of them gave thumbs down. Everyone expected that Department would be a big hit as Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Rana Daggubati appeared together but there was nothing great except the trio. Story
The plot revolves around cops and mafia in Mumbai. Sanjay Dutt who is a special police office and Rana Daggubati, an encounter specialist team up to wipe out mafia from Mumbai. While Vijay Raaz plays the main gangster in the movie, Amitabh Bachchan appears as the gangster-turned-politician.
Analysis :
The first draw back of the film is the plot. We have seen many movies with the same subjects such as Once Upon A Time in Mumbai. Therefore, there should be something exceptionally good in the movie if the story is routine and unfortunately the music is not forgettable but a torture. The camera angles are undoubtedly experiments of Ram Gopal Varma, which were pain to eyes. There’s not even at least one plus point in the movie.
Performance :
When the film is filled with so much of action captures in weird angles the scope to analyze the performance of any actor had become a real challenge. Amitabh Bachchan did his best, Rana and Sanjay Dutt were okay. Vijay Raaz as dhoti-clad gangster irked the viwers.
Final Word:Better think twice before you watch
