Story : The much awaited ‘Brindavanam’, featuring Jr. NTR, Prakash Raj, Srihari, Brahmanandam and Venu Madhav, comes as a light relief from a mass hero who made an attempt to send signals that he would like to be some class too.
The story, which runs on a jig of love, shows love related melodrama and promotes some sort of family entertainment, away from heavy fights and bombings. It is not that the movie completely keeps the mass element off the hero but the makers have taken a cautious approach to show him as a class actor who has not lost the punch of a mass artiste.
The story goes that Bhoomi, played by Kajol Agarwal, wants her marriage stopped as it was fixed with a goon by her father played by the maverick Prakash Raj. Then the hero Krishna, known as Krish and played by Jr.NTR and his lover Indu played by Samantha come into the picture to stop the unwanted marriage.
At the request of Bhoomi, Krish acts as her boy friend, of course with the full permission of his lover Indu.
When the hero enters the village to stop the marriage, the aim is achieved but yet much more is there to achieve. And the aim is to unite the step brothers Sri Hari and Prakash Raj both sons of Kota Srinivasa Rao but who are at logger-heads with each other.
The hero would set right things in the family with his behaviour and Good Samaritan antics but unfortunately finds himself in a mess as he discovers that Bhoomi was in love with her. How he comes out of it and unites the step-brothers farms part of the rest of the story.
Jr.NTR excels
Director Vamsi Paidipally succeeds to a majority extent to present the script as a family entertainer and show case the hero as one with a class mixing the family entertainment with comedy, humour and some romance too. The producer Dil Raju’s aim to show Jr. NTR differently is also achieved.
Jr.NTR excels well in his role as Krish and retains his mass appearance in the first half while he presents himself differently in the second half. In a nutshell, his performance is highly commendable.
Samantha looks like a mismatch for Jr. NTR while Kajol succeeds in stealing the limelight. Prakash Raj, Srihari, Brahmanandam and Venu Madhav also excel in their performances.
