After the success of ‘MaryaadaRamanna’ we could see the artist in Saloni. Soon after that film, Saloni, accepted a heroine centric film like ‘Telugammayi’. The film that released, succeeded or did not, let’s have a look;
Story:
The Movie begins with Kalidasu (Shafi) rapes and murders a young girl in a hostel. The TV news reader saying how the similar cases have occurred and the serial murderer has never been found. Then the sequence opens in the Railway station, where we find Shiva, Chinna, Munna. Then entersBala Tripura Sundari (Saloni), and each of these four friends do their best to ‘impress’ her. As the train travels from Secunderabad to Vijayawada and Kalidasu joins the group and starts misbehaving with all the people, and more so with Sundari.The boys decide to do something about it, and what do they do – they stab him to death! The body is thrown away, and it would not take much of a time to the truth to be known. Then this ‘telugammayi’ answers to the lot of questions, analyzing who are the culprits and who are not. What is the climax that has to be seen on screen?
Performance:
The performance of Saloni is good enough. But it seems that she did not carry her dress sense and her characterization better. This role requires a much powerful actress who can handle the role well. However, it is a director’s choice. The other roles, played by VenuMadhav, Geeta Singh and those four boys and even the negative role by Shafi are okay, but seemed to be exaggerating to certain extent. I suppose the train sequence is more or less same as in the film ‘Venky’ and there is a too long comedy track that has run. Suddenly, the woman oriented phase was introduced in the film. Director Raja VannemReddy seemed to have lost clarity in what has to be done. The music scores by VandemataramSrinivas are just okay. The editing by GautamRaju is upto the mark. All other departments did their bit.
Analysis:
Director started off the film, with an ideology, got deviated then, and came back to the ideology at the end. There is a lot of lag in the screenplay. The story gets boring at one point of time. saloni’s performance in the climax sequence could have been much better. The more crispness in the story, screenplay, and the film making would have been much better. Over all, there is nothing much to say about the film
Final Word:
‘Telugammayi’ just any other movie.
