Digitization is a boon to modern times to reap rich dividends in faster time. This was said by none other than noted film actor, director, writer and producer Dr Kamal Haasan while addressing an elite audience. The actor who is well known for his penchant for technology made spoke at the opening day of Media and Entertainment Business Conclave (MEBC), a Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) initiative.
Speaking on the occasion he said, 'Today, films across all languages are able to generate bumper openings because of digitization compared to films that were released through film reels many years ago... That could only be released in select theaters at the time of the release.'
Incidentally the stalwart, also the chairman of FICCI MEBC, reckoned, 'Films today have wider release because they're digitally manufactured. Today, a film in its first week is able to generate more revenue than films on its 100th day released few years back.'
The conclave had the patronage of renowned film personalities from across the globe. A few of the elite included Hollywood producer Barrie M Osborne, southern producer Suresh Babu, Tamil director Ameer, Oscar-winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty and producer D Rama Naidu.
