A shocking incident of the killing of Telugu Engineer Srinivas Kuchibotla in the United States, has brought the whole nation to a stand still.
The incident now is being taken up as the prime story line for an upcoming Hollywood film which is to be helmed by director Dave Pinn.
There are several instances, in the past, where Hollywood filmmakers got inspired from real incidents and developed a plot around it. Bellevue based People-Media, a subsidiary entity of People Tech Group is producing a film titled “Ray of Hope.” The film will mainly focus on the acts of misunderstanding and violence against immigrants all across the United States. The film comes at the time when the number of hate-crime attacks are rising up and Trump’s new immigration policy is receiving a lot of flak. In the end, it remains to be seen how the filmmaker is going to project this “hate-crime” story which left several Indians in a disgusted state.
The principal photography will commence soon in Seattle and Bellevue. The project will be in collaboration with the local community partner “Tasveer.”
The film’s director, Dave Pinn said, “In recent times, there is a lot of confusion in the United States regarding the changing attitude and perception towards immigrants. The film “Ray of Hope” analyses the current situation and fills new ray of hope among immigrants and the mainstream communities again.
Co-Producer and Founder of Tasveer, Rita Meher said, “I was really shaken up by the death of Mr. Kuchibhothla and many hate crimes those were taking place in the country. The vigil in his honor was participated by 43 local and national organizations like non-profit organization American Civil Liberties Union, (ACLU). I think people are ready for a film like this where we bring all views and opinions to the forefront.”
Srinivas Kuchibotla, on 22nd February, was shot by a 51-year Adam Purinton at a bar in Kansas City. The gunman, who was taken into police custody next day, yelled “get out of my country” after shooting Srinivas and his friend Ajay. The 32-year old Indian Engineer, who's survived with a wife, was working with an American MNC from 2014.
