So far no success mantra is discovered for a film by any. Movies with high budget and good cast having a good story also flopped and movies with low budget and less talked about cast fared well and brought fortunes to the investors. Successful directors also failed to know the reason for a success or a failure of a movie. Career of directors, stars, writers and their assisting technical staff depends on success of a movie they work on and they can do nothing but to wait and see fingers crossed for the response from the public.
When nothing is in the hands and no theory is available to reckon, only thing a man can do is follow a sentiment. And that is exactly what the movie personalities do to turn stars favorable. Some of the sentiments followed are given below:
1. Mahesh Babu’s movies with titles of three letters in Telugu like Okkadu, Arjun, Athadu, Pokiri, Dookudu were hits and the same is followed by christening his next movie with ‘Aagadu’.
2. Ramcharan Teja attributes success of a movie to a remix song of his father Chiranjeevi used in it. It is followed in Magadheera, Rachcha and Nayak.
3. VV Vinayak director is a devotee of Antarvedi Narasimha Swamy. He takes the first copy to the temple and gets special pooja performed there.
4. Nagarjuna’s films Mass, Manmadhudu, King, don, Rajanna etc were released in the month of December and struck success. Nag believes it.
5. Rajasekhar prefers to shoot at midnight at 12.00oclock.
6. Gopichand also follows title sentiment. His movies ending with Sampurnakshar ‘m’ brought him luck like- Varsham, Yagnam, Ranam, Lakshyam, Shouryam and now latest is ‘Sahasam’.
7. Dilraj a successful producer of the films starts his movies only in his office not in a studio as others do.
8. Puri Jagannadh who has an attachment with Bangkok wants to start shooting from there.
9. Samantha stays in the same hotel where she stayed when ‘dookudu’ was shot in Switzerland as the movie was a great success.
The above are only a few. In fact nothing is ignored by the filmwalas. It can be a shirt, a watch, a purse, car driver, a sweetmeat eaten or a color, a number, a particular person performing pooja, a particular combination of hero and heroine, a place where an audio function is organized, it can be anything that is noticed and remembered to make it a sentiment and then follow.
A sentiment changes when it doesn’t work out sometimes. It will be taken as the luck is worn out or they may look for a negative force that worked on the luck the sentiment supposed to bring. New sentiments may come to take place in place of old ones. But following a sentiment will not stop as the success mantra is not yet found.
