Akkineni about awards functions

Senior most Telugu cine hero Akkineni Nageswara Rao who is leading the committee for the TSR National Cine Awards that is going to be conducted on 20th April talked in an audio function about the cine awards.

He said that awards were once considered as very valuable and every artist used to dream about getting one. Later on the No. of awards has gone up. But still the importance of receiving an award remained the same as before. An award is a way paying respects to the able and deserved artists. All the same we have only congratulating among ourselves. The recognition is not going beyond our Telugu boundary. I always felt that a National event is required to tell all that Telugu people are not falling behind and it is fulfilled through TSR National Cine Awards.

Heartening thing, Nageswara Rao says, is the way giving away the awards became a business. In the place of the most deserving artists, sometimes others are getting an award. It reduces the importance and value of an award. We should always know the purpose and value of honoring a person.

Akkineni Nageswara Rao feels that an award function also should be a showy thing as the cinema itself is a show business. He expressed his satisfaction that T Subba Ramireddy, on whose name TSR awards will be given to North and South Indian cinema artists for 2011 and 2012. The awards were given for 2010 previously in which all old and new artists from North and South were invited and honored. The forgotten cine starts who are away from the cine fields also were searched, located, invited and honored efforts of which made by T Subbi Ramireddy were appreciated by all.
