The Magnum opus from Dr Kamal Hassan's own production company, Viswaroopam will be hitting the screens on January 25 and the veteran today announced that the DTH premier would be on February 02. He apologized to his fans for the delay and thanked them for showing concern.
The delay was due to the stiff opposition by Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association (TNTOA) who finally consented to the film's release on screens on the newly said date. The 150 crores film will be released in Telugu, Tamil, simultaneously while in Hindi it would hit screens on February 01, as Viswaroop.
Actually the film was scheduled for January 11 and the multi-faceted actor cum producer also planned the screen a DTH premier on January 10 at 9.30 pm. But this did not go well with the association, which felt that this ulterior move, by the actor, would hamper their revenues. On the other hand the actor felt that this move would deter piracy.
