‘Rana’ to be made with Rs.100 Cr

rajnikanthIt is now official. Rajanikanth’s multi-lingual film ‘Rana’ for which the story is written by the super star himself will start the shoot after the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Being made with the backdrop of a 17th century story, the budget of the movie is estimated at Rs.100 Cr.

Soundarya Rajanikanth, who is co-producing the movie in collaboration with Eros International, told media persons at Chennai Friday evening that they have decided to start  the shooting of the movie once the state is free from the elections.

Director KS Ravi Kumar, who was also present, said they have never approached actors Rekha or Hema Malini. Confirming that Deepika Padukone would play a role, the director said talks were still going on with Vidya Balan. “We will confirm her participation in a few days,” he said.

The news stories of Ileana’s participation or Hema Malini donning a role or Rekha’s denial are all media speculations, they said clearing the air.  While AR Rehman will compose music for the movie, camera will be handled by Ratnavelu.
