With the help of some quality performance by the defense adjoining the good support from the raiders, Storm Queens registered their first win of the season against Ice Divas at Game 5 of Women’s Pro Kabaddi League 2016 at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Monday.
Ice Divas are still at no. 1 spot with 11 points from 2 wins in 4 games whereas Storm Queens are at third and at the last spot in the points table with 8 points from a win in 3 games.
In the first half, Storm Queens Skipper Tejaswini Bai scored her first point and managed to provide 3-1 lead to her team after opening the account with tackle points. Terrible performance by Ice Divas in the first half harmed them as Queens took 6-2 lead on Divas. Divas could not score a single raid point till the 10th minute of the first half. Tejaswini Bai’s two raid points as well as Queens’s all out helped the team to take the huge lead by 13-4. Abhilasha Mhatre’s first raid point helped Divas to make it 5-13. At the end of the first half, the score was 14-6 in favor of the Queens.
Later, Queens’s defense played extremely well as they provided firm lead to their team in the second half as the score was 17-7 after 20 minutes. Ice Divas’ defense as well as their raiders, both were not in touch as they kept failing to cut the deficit. Abhilasha Mhatre had a bad game as she could only score 1 point. Deepika gained high-five as Queens were leading 20-11 and soon Queens registered their first win against Ice Divas 21-15.
