The rumored high-end iPhone 8 with an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) is expected to cost upwards of USD1000, but a base model of 64GB could start at USD 850-900 in the US.
Financial services firm UBS Analyst, Steven Milunovich, said, “this new price point would be similar to Samsung’s New Galaxy S8+.” Other than the iPhone 8, Apple is expected to announce two more smart phones - the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s plus, which will start at around USD 649 and USD 749 respectively.
According to investors, the 256GB model would be sold for USD 950 to USD 1,000.
This implies, that the base price of the iPhone 8, will be slightly higher over the iPhone 7s and the Galaxy S8+.
The iPhone 8, in addition to an edge-to-edge OLED display, with narrow bezels, will have additional features such as wireless charging, no physical Home button, a faster new A11 chip and a potentially 3D facial recognition, and/or iris scanning.
The upcoming phone, is also rumored to have, “True Color iPad Pro” screen technology for the first time. The screen technology utilizes advanced four-channel ambient light sensors, to automatically adapt the color and intensity of the display, so as to match the light in your environment.
The iPhone 8, with 5.8 inch display, will be competing head-to-head with Galaxy S8, instead of the 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+.
This means, reading anywhere is more natural and comfortable - almost like looking at a sheet of paper.
Additionally, the full spectral sensing ambient light sensor, will be added across the iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus and iPhone 8.
However, Apple’s 10th anniversary is not set to launch until the end of the year, but there are plenty of rumors around the device.
Apple is expected to offer three iPhones this year, with one of the models, to feature OLED. OLED provides better power efficiency and high contrast ratio over liquid crystal displays (LCD).
