Defending champions have a blast on Day 1

After a blasting opening ceremony the eve of the first match, Kolkata Knight Riders were in high spirits with the opening ceremony in their home grounds. This boosted their morale to perform better probably ending in an emphatic win over Delhi Daredevils at Eden Gardens in the first match of IPL 6 on Wednesday.

While the host's were not perfect with their performance chasing a meagre target of 129 set by Delhi Daredevils, they still won with six wickets in hand and more than an over remaining. Gautam Gambhir who failed to perform well in the Test series chomped up a quick 42 runs. Kallis, Tiwary and Yusuf Pathan supported the strike.

The man deserving the mention is Sunil Narine, who in the last season was the man of the tournament, with his spells that left the Delhi Team paralyzed claiming four wickets and giving away only 13 runs. (4-0-13-4)

The game was completely one sided going Gambhir's way right from the start. Winning the toss, giving away the willow to Delhi and yet getting them bowled over for just 128, were all different points in a game that always had the victory needle pointed towards Gambhir.
