Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) posted as yet another sensational victory in the ongoing IPL season-4 as they defeated Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets by chasing a target of 135 with 12 balls to spare in their league encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium at Kochi on Monday.
While this is the second defeat for Dhoni’s men in four league matches, this is the second victory for the Tuskers. They earlier defeated the mighty Mumbai Indians led by batting wizard Sachin Tendulkar.
KTK skipper Mahela Jayawardane asked the Chennai Super Kings to bat first after winning the toss and his decision was proved right as R.P. Singh removed the dangerous Mike Hussey in the third over, caught by Parthiv Patel behind the stumps.
Jayawardane fell for 39 runs for the opening wicket due to his own discretion but it did not dampen the spirits of the Tuskers as Parthiv Patel, together with McCullum, gave the required momentum to the run rate and put the home on the winning path.
Earlier, the match faced the prospects of heave rain but rain gods never appeared there as the hovering clouds were blown away by heavy winds luckily.
