The Indians may have to take up their cudgels against Sri Lanka at the Wankhade stadium in Mumbai on Saturday in their 2011 cricket world cup grand finale encounter without the participation of left arm pacer Ashish Nehra as he fractured his fingers.
Team Manager Ranjib Biswal told media persons this morning Nehra had fractured the middle finger of his right hand during their encounter with the Pakistan on Wednesday at Mohali. Nehra finished with the figurers of 2/33.
The X rays have confirmed the fracture and doctors have been treating him, he said. “At this moment his participation is not ruled out as he bowls with left arm and the injury is to his left hand finger,” Biswal said.
The manager, however, said that they would wait till Saturday morning for the doctors to declare him fit and then go for the replacement.
