KKR win the opener

Kolkata Knight Riders [KKR] made stunning start to the Champions League. In their first match against Chennai Super Kings [CSK], Andre Russell and Ryan ten Doeschate pulled off one of the amazing victories for KKR. Gautam Gambhir won the toss and sent CSK to bat first.  Smith and McCullum started smashing boundaries every over which led Gambhir to introduce spin. Piyush Chawla got rid off Smith in the fourth over and then McCullum followed. Later Raina and Faf du Plessis scored at quick pace but could not convert into big scores and Sunil Narine removed the dangerous Raina while again Chawla stuck. In the end, CSK captain Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo finished the innings with 157 runs on the board.

Chasing the total, KKR made a disasters start as the IPL winners lost four wickets for just 21 runs. However, it was ten Doeschate and Russell who slammed CSK bowlers every now and then to keep the scoring board moving ahead. At one point of time, KKR need 10 runs an over to win the match but they completed the match with an over to spar. Russel hit five huge sixes and completed his half century while ten Doeschate balanced with boundaries and rotating the strike.

Scores: CSK: 157/4, Dhoni 35*, Bravo 28*, Chawla 2/26, Narine 1/9
     KKR: 159/7, ten Doeschate 51*, Russel 58, Nehra 4/21
