ACT Fibernet Launches Wired Broadband Internet Service In India

Indian Internet Service Provider, ACT Fibernet, today has launched the 1GBPS (Giga Byte Per Second)) wired broadband internet service in Hyderabad, India.

IT Minister K T Rama Rao launched the internet connection of ACT Fibernet.

ACT Fibernet is the first broadband operator in the Indian internet market to offer Giga speed internet connection, in entire India.

The company said, ACT Fibernet’s new internet service is scheduled to be available soon in the 11 cities, the company has a presence in.

The product is currently available in Hyderabad for Rs 5999 per month at 1TB (Terabyte) Fair Usage Policy (FUP) or Bandwidth Cap.

ACT Fibernet, which claims to be the largest non-Telco internet service provider (ISP), uses fiber optic technology.

The 1 GBPS, offers 400 times faster than the average internet speed of 2.5 megabits per second in India.

K. T Rama Rao, speaking on the occasion, said, “the faster internet services in Telangana would help in attaining the Government’s vision of making Telangana a tech and digitally advanced hub.”

Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), on the 1 GBPS link, said that the Telangana Government would soon connect Secretariat, Assembly, Raj Bhavan.

KTR has also asked ACT Fibernet to connect the schools, begin in digital library and also upgrade the Chikkadpally Central Library with a 1 GBPS connection to help the students.

ACT Chief Executive Officer Bala Malladi said, the new facility would change the way, how largely internet was now being consumed.

Further, the facility, would fast track the government’s target, to connect all its 23 million Telangana residents through the internet by 2018.

“We are privileged to launch 1 Gbps in Hyderabad for the first time in India,” he added.

IT Secretary, Jayesh Ranjan, said, the State will soon launch 3,000 wifi spots in the city, and of which 1000 of them will be handled by ACT.

ACT Fibernet is the largest broadband provider in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad with over 65% market share.
