As I talk of this man who made distant continents nearer with the stroke of an 'enter' key, I remember the famous sayings of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime...
Footprints on the sands of time...
True this day we owe to British engineer and computer scientist Sir Tim Berners-Lee. But for this man we would have not been a social networking global village. Yes Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Director of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), dedicated the World wide web to common man which was till then a defense communique. As per Wiki, 'At CERN, a European research organization near Geneva situated on Swiss and French soil, Berners-Lee and Belgian computer scientist Robert Cailliau proposed in 1990 to use hypertext "to link and access information of various kinds as a web of nodes in which the user can browse at will", and they publicly introduced the project in December.'
'On August 6, 1991, he posted a short summary of the World Wide Web project on the alt.hypertext newsgroup. This date also marked the debut of the Web as a publicly available service on the Internet.'
Imagine a life with out internet, sounds impossible. It looks like that man can live with out essentials but not with out browsing, especially Gen Next. With the popping of internet distant lands became nearer and distant national become dear friends. All this by the stroke of a dreaded mouse click. We owe all this to the rich legacy of Sir Tim Berners-Lee. With his social innovations has made this day great for all of us. Be it the silicon valley, IT, ITES or any other development this man made leaders and is making more with his small step towards humanity.
Sir without your initiatives none of this like, facebook index, facebook friends, friendship day sms, friendship, friend ship day, friendship quotes, friendship day greeting cards, gmail email, gmail account email, yahoo mail login, tagged, youtube video, or youtube videos de musica would have been ever possible. Wishesh salutes this man on this day, 'Sir you are a global personality and we are proud to be born in your era'. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
