Hima Das: India's First Woman To Win Gold In Track Event

Hima Das: India's First Woman To Win Gold In Track Event:- 18-year-old Hima Das created a history after she won the first gold medal for the country in a track event. She has been showered with wishes and appreciations from all the corners of the country. The victory came in just 18 months after running her first competitive race in an inter district meet in Assam. Hima Das is the daughter of a rice farmer from Dhing in Nagaon district from Assam.

Hima won gold for India in a global event in 400 metre final at World U20 Championships that took place in Tampere, Finland. Hima started on a slow pace but she balzed in the final 80m and reached the milestone in 51.46 seconds. Hima joined the elite club of athletes who won the medals. Right from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, celebrities from all over the country appreciated and lauded Hima on this achievement.
