Before buying anything on the online market, every customer goes through the reviews of the product. But who knows whether those reviews are true or not.
Getting into the details, Amazon, a popular online store filed a lawsuit against 1114 people, for giving the fake, misleading and inauthentic product reviews on its website.
It claims the defendants named as “John Does”, the American term for an unidentified person offer their false review service for as little as five dollars on the website Fiverr.com.
Amazon noted down the list of all the defendants' Fiverr account names and is now seeking a proper judgement, to identify the culprits.
We conducted an extensive investigation, which even included purchasing fake customer reviews on Fiverr. They offered reviews and even promised five star rating and also offered to let the purchaser write their review themselves.
In the beginning of the year, Amazon already sued several websites, which it suspected of selling the fake reviews.
The legal action says: "Amazon is taking this step, to protect its customers from this misconduct, by stopping the defendants and thus uprooting the ecosystem, in which they get the opportunity to participate.

“Though Amazon has successfully requested the removal of the similar listings from Fiverr in the past, removing the individual listings does not address the root cause of the issue or serve as a sufficient deterrent to the bad actors engaged in creating and purchasing fraudulent product reviews.”
