Bill Gates reclaims #1 spot

Carlos Slim has been quashed by Bill Gates after the latter took over the coveted throne that he once occupied, the world's richest man. Bloomberg Billionaire's Index once again brought him out to the top dominating Carlos Slim, the Mexican Investor after the software firm Microsoft registered a whopping 16% growth compared to last year. The total values of his assets now are over $72.7 billion.

Earlier Bill Gates had the throne in 2007 but later on he couldn't manage to be on top until now.

Slim on the other hand had been operating the biggest mobile-phone firm in the Americas, America Movil which hasn't beed doing so well after Mexican congressmen were displeased with the prohibitory prices Movil had been levying on the users and passed a bill against Carlos' dominance in the industry. They bill which is currently with the president will force the break up of phone companies with more than 50% of the market or force them to share their networks. America Movil has 70% of Mexico's mobile-phone subscribers and 80% of the country's landlines.

This has already devasted Slim by depleting $3billion from his net worth. On the other hand Microsoft has received a 28% bump in shares this year after cost controlling measures, sales and a lukewarm response for Microsoft Windows 8.
