Karnataka State Pollution Control Board has directed Graphite India Limited to shut down with immediate effect as the company didn't adhere to the pollution control norms. The board has further instructed the company not to roll up its shutters until further instructions by it. The pollution control board has reportedly received many complaints in the past against this company and it has kept an eagle eye on it for quite sometime.

The pollution control board has closed down this company under the provisions of Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. Meanwhile, the company said it had been exploring all the possible provisions in the legislature.
