The horror when you discover that the spouse, whom you married with so much love, originally wasn't of that same sex from his/her birth, is indescribable. A man in his early sixties from Belgium had to face a similar bitter situation when he found out that his wife who is 48 was not a woman from her birth after 19 years of wedlock.

Jan and Monica were together since 1993 but he recently has been trying to appeal to the courts to annul their marriage, after herculean efforts to overcome the legal problems that he faced while tying the knot with his Indonesian partner.

Talking to a newspaper in Belgium he said that he was devastated to find out the truth from different people. He also said that he felt assaulted.

"I brought her to Belgium. That was not easy. The Belgian courts had serious doubts about the authenticity of her birth and her identity papers, but eventually they accepted it anyway. I thought she was an attractive woman, all woman. She had no male traits," the Telegraph mentioned quoting Jan.

Jan and Monica decided not to have children since Jan already had two kids from his previous marriage. He said that Monica faked menstruation periods while using sanitary towels to make him believe that she was a woman.

He had also never found anything different during their intercourse. It was after she got a full time job that the marriage began to fall apart. Jan's eldest son saw her at the night clubs and her computer had luscious messages from several men.

"Monica began to change very much," Jan said telling the paper that she was wearing very short clothes that were seductively revealing.

It was through a friend that he had heard the heart breaking news that the wife was not a woman, biologically. "A friend told me that he had heard that Monica was actually a gender-changed man. I could not believe it. My son heard similar rumors," he said.

Jan is now coping from the psychological trauma of the shattering discovery he made. Legal proceedings are on to have the marriage annulled.
