Manipur Governor Vinod Kumar Duggal submitted his resignation to President Pranab Mukherjee yesterday afternoon. Duggal is the ninth governor to tender resignation after Narendra Modi government taking charge on Delhi this May.
UPA government appointed Duggal as Manipur Governor in December 2013 and he was in the national capital for the past one week and finally met President on Wednesday and tendered his resignation. The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya is likely to hold additional charge of Manipur until a new one is appointed.
VK Duggal was one of the Sri Krishna Committee member which was appointed by the UPA government to give details for the formation of Telangana state.
