A local court in Bhiwandi on Friday issued summons to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his remarks linking the RSS to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. Addressing a rally in Bhiwandi before Lok Sabha elections on March 6, Mr Gandhi had said, “RSS people killed Gandhiji.” RSS claimed that remarks were defamatory and with the speech, Gandhi has harmed the reputation of RSS. Rahul Gandhi has been summoned under section 500 of the Indian Penal Code.
