Amnesty International India a watchdog of human rights reveals at a press conference on Saturday that there is enough evidence to state that hundreds of Indians are stranded in Najag province of Iraq as their passports were retained by their employers denying handing over to the employees. They texted their passport details and are looking up for help from Indian Embassy in Baghdad. They say that their movements are restricted to the factory premises as their passports are not handed over to them and they want to return home because of the eruption of disturbances.
Amnesty International urges the Indian Government to pay more attention on the issue and arrange for their returning home in the absence of their passports.
Amnesty International also wrote to the militants to release immediately and unconditionally the civilians apprehended by them. Kurdistan Regional Governments are also requested to provide refuse centers to the civilians who are fleeing in search of safety.
