Farmers Protest: Centre Accepts Two Demands Of Farmers:- The farmers of Punjab and Haryana are protesting at the borders of the national capital from more than a month. The talks took place between the Farmer Unions and the Centre five times and they went unsuccessful. The sixth rounds of talks took place last evening for hours and the Centre accepted two of the demands which is a major breakthrough. The Centre agreed to spare with the heavy fines of the farmers for the crop-residue burning and they agreed to continue with the current process of giving subsidised power for the usage of agriculture.

The Centre and the Farmer Unions are yet to discuss about the other major demands out of the three farm laws and about the legal guarantee of minimum support prices. The government agreed to form a five-member panel that can research about the new farm laws and it would study the constitutional validity considering the welfare of the farmers. The Farmer Unions wanted all the three farm laws to be scrapped which were approved by the government in September. The next set of talks will take place on January 4th. The government also asked the farmer unions to come up with alternatives for the applied farm laws.

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar also asked the leaders to come up with a detail explanation about the introduced farm laws so that they could discuss about the amendments to be done. Union ministers Tomar, Piyush Goyal and Som Parkash too were present for the meeting.
