Supreme Court's Decision On AP Local Body Polls

Supreme Court's Decision On AP Local Body Polls:- The State Election Commission (SEC) of Andhra Pradesh decided to postpone the local body polls in the state. AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy was unhappy with the move and the government of Andhra Pradesh filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the postponement of the polls. In a major setback for the government of Andhra Pradesh, the Supreme Court today refused to intervene in the issue and it asked the state government and election commission to get the issue resolved.

The local body polls are postponed to the name of coronavirus scare. The Supreme Court now dismissed the petition after the government filed seeking revocation of the orders that are issued by the state election commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar. YS Jagan made some sensational comments against Ramesh Kumar. The model code of conduct which is applicable in Andhra Pradesh is now lifted. The Supreme Court clarified that the AP Government should not announce any new schemes in this time to influence the voters.
