Telangana Board of Intermediate Education Extends Date to Apply to Supplementary Exams to April 29:- Amid agitation of intermediate students over erroneous results, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has extended the last date for applying for advanced supplementary examinations to April 29.
The board through a press release informed that students appearing for supplementary exams for improvement of marks or for clearing the examcan pay the fee before April 29. However, those applying for re-verification of answer sheets have to pay the fee by April 27.
In the meantime, the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) on Friday announced that they will not declare the results of EAMCET (Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test) 2019 until the re-verification of the Intermediate answer sheets is completed.
Earlier, the TSCHE had proposed to declare the results on May 20 but the dates have been postponed due to the present crisis.
The EAMCET exams are being held on May 3, 4 and 6 for engineering aspirants and on May 7 and 8, for agriculture and other allied courses.
“We want the students to concentrate on EAMCET preparation and not worry about the results,” said TSCHE Chairman T. Papi Reddy, according to The Hindu.
“Since the re-verification may take time, we decided to hold the results till that time so that pressure on students can be relieved,” he said.
According to TSCHE, a total of 1,41,966 candidates have applied for engineering and 74,746 for agriculture and pharmacy streams for which EAMCET is being conducted.
TSCHE anticipates that the numbers will increase as there is still time for applying with a late fee of Rs 10,000. The exams will be conducted at 84 centers in Telangana and 10 centers in Andhra Pradesh.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had also expressed concern over how the Telangana government would conduct EAMCET, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
“The time is also running out for the students who have to appear in entrance exams like EAMCET, NEET and JEE, etc,” the Commission had written to Telangana Chief Secretary while giving a directive to submit a report on the intermediate results fiasco.
