Veteran Woman Journalist Shot Dead in Bengaluru:- Senior journalist and Hindu activist Gauri Lankesh has been shot dead by unknown goons at her residence last night in Raja Rajeshwari Nagar, Bengaluru. Three assailants surrounded her and shot her when she was about to enter her house last night at 8 PM. Bullets ran into her head and chest after which she has been declared dead on spot. The cops reached the spot and the investigation is on.
According to M.N. Anucheth, DCP (West), Gauri's body has been found on the verendah of her residence. The cops are said to have cordoned the premises. The witnesses revealed that there have been multiple firings and she was shot right after she got down from her car. The neighbours hearing about the gun shots rushed out and called the ambulance. As she was shot from a close range, Gauri Lankesh collapsed and passed away on spot.
The cops recovered the CCTV footage and are investigating the matter. Gauri Lankesh has been known for her strict and gutsy stories and she was a huge supported for Hindu acts. In 2016, she was convicted in a defamation case filed by MP Prahlad Joshi, who had objected to a report against BJP leaders. Various protests have been planned condemning her murder across the country.
