Telangana’s Ibrahimpur Village Conferred With The Prestigious Award

The Ibrahimpur village of Telangana’s Siddipet Mandal of Medak District, has made the state proud yet again.

This time the Ibrahimpur village is back in news, as it has been conferred with the most prestigious Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Award. The panchayat of the Ibrahimpur village, was selected for conducting the gram sabhas, which in turn stood as an inspiration to many villages across the nation.

The Prime Minister’s Office, is likely to present the award on the celebrations of National Panchayati Raj Day, that is scheduled to be held in Luknow on April 24.

Irrigation Minister Harish Rao, said, “I wholeheartedly congratulate the people of Ibrahimpur for having been selected for the prestigious Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Award.” Harish Rao, who has adopted the village, is the local MLA of it.

The Ibrahimpur village is the first to earn a quite good name, and is the first cashless village in South India. In December 2016, the Telangana Government, claimed that the village in Siddipet Assembly constituency has become cashless. According to the claims, all the transactions, big and small are made through debit or credit cards in the village. Besides setting up card swipe machines in Kirana stores and micro ATMs, bank accounts were opened by the district administration, for those villagers who did not have debit cards, and eventually provided them.

The village is also praised to be the perfect model to be replicated, and has started schemes to open bank accounts for its people, as soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetization of high currency notes, to fight the menace of black money. And within a short span of 40 days, the village turned completely into a cashless village. This village in Telangana follows a very clean model and is also referred as the first mosquito-free village in the State. The villagers bursted out into celebration, as the village panchayat has been chosen for the prestigious award.
