Tarun Vijay’s racist remarks, had created an uproar in South India, as several top leaders slammed the BJP MP, for referring South Indians as “blacks.”
Vijay, earlier, made a statement, that, the Indians cannot be considered racist, as they live with “black” South Indians. He further questioned, “If we are racist, why would we have the entire south (India)? Why do we live with them (if we are racist). We have black people all around us.
Although, Pawan Kalyan did not take his name directly, he made strong comments against Tarun and his BJP party. Pawan, further said, “it is our misfortune that persons having such feelings and the parties which accommodate them, are there at the national level.”
“You need revenue from the black people of South India, but you look down upon them,” he said.
The Tollywood actor, also recalled that, India’s National Flag, was designed by a South Indian. Pawan added that, the total arrogance and pride, of a North, was visible in his (Tarun Vijay’s) words.
However, Tarun later apologized for his words and clarified, saying that, he did not convey what he had meant to. Pawan referred the remarks as “unforgettable”, and stated that such distinction of the North and South, divide the Nation.
Earlier, Tarun participated in a discussion, on Al Jazeera TV, over racism against Nigerians, Africans in India, after an assault group of Nigerians was reported in Greater Noida recently.
Tarun later apologized and admitted that his choice of words sounded “ridiculous” and “very bad”.
Tarun Vijay, further tweeted, “In many parts of the nation, we have different people, in color and never ever we had any discrimination against them”. “My words, perhaps were not enough to convey this. Feel bad, really feel sorry, my apologies to those who feel I said different than what I meant.”
