South Central Railway general manager Vinod Kumar Yadav said: "the Union Budget had allocated Rs 282 crore for the re-development of Secunderabad railway station and Rs 194 crore for the Vijayawada station."
He said "the projects were being taken up on the modified Swiss Challenge method. The project would seek to involve state governments, Central government wings, and global experts."
As a part of union budget, railway ministry has planned to re-develop 23 stations in the phase-1.
In 96,243 sq.m, the railway will do all commercial development work in Secundrabad railway station. The development work will be done which includes 10,896 sq.m. in the station area, 41,832 sq.m. on platforms and 43,515 sq.m. in the circulating area.
Entry and exit from railway station will be developed along with separation for both arrival and departing passengers.
The stations will also have a pharmacy, ATM, drinking water, the Internet, retail shopping, hospitality, food courts, automated vending machines on platforms for food and water. Parking and the separate route will be made for movement of parcels.
The stations will also have drop and pick-up facility for parking of vehicles. It will also have multi-level parking.
The Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation would be doing the redevelopment.
