Police questioned Mehr Tarar in Sunanda Pushkar case

Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar, who was involved in a spat over Twitter with Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar just hours before her death, has been questioned by Delhi Police in connection with the murder case.

Tarar was questioned about her relation with the Congress leader and his wife, her fight with Sunanda over Twitter, and other issues revolving around Sunanda’s mysterious death. She has refused any proximity on personal terms with both Tharoor and Sunanda.

Tarar has also figured prominently in a statement given by the journalist Nalini Singh, who is believed to be the last person who had spoken to Sunanda over phone hours before her death.

Tarar came to India two, three months before for the questioning, which was conducted at a five-star hotel in the central Delhi. The police wrote to her in the last December asking her to cooperate in the probe. After promising cooperation, she has also sent a confirmation to the DCP (south) in February, the sources said.

Sunanda Pushkar, wife of the then Union minister Shashi Tharoor, was found dead at Leela Hotel's suite number 345 on January 17, 2014. The death came just a day after she was involved in a spat with Tarar on Twitter over the latter's alleged affair with Tharoor.

Tarar, was confronted with a questionnaire prepared by investigating officer VK Yadav and his team. She was questioned for about three hours in presence of women officers. Tarar, cooperated with the police, but denied charges of any romantic liaison with Tharoor .She also denied having exchanged "objectionable" emails or BBM messages with Tharoor. Cops are now corroborating her answers with the probe findings.
