Rockets fired at Afghanistan parliament

Four rockets were fired by the militants at the Afghanistan parliament, this afternoon, the reports said.

Among the four, one showed an impact on the new building built with India’s assistance and one other landed in an army base nearby and two others were landed in the surrounding areas.

Reportedly, the incident took place when the senior security officials were on their way to the building to brief lawmakers on the current situation in the country.

A lawmaker said the MPs and other people in the building were safe.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new parliament building in Afghanistan, which was built by India’s assistance. Three months after that inauguration, rocket firing in the building is awakening new speculations.

With a cost of USD 90 million, the swanky new building was built by India.

As a mark of friendship and cooperation to help rebuild Afghanistan, India has started building the project in 2007.
