Stirring up the proceedings of Lok Sabha, BJP MP Anju Bala dramatically declared that she had been pronounced dead on the internet.
MP said that, Wikipedia shows Anju Bala has been dead on March 3rd in New Delhi and also married twice. More than the former, it was the latter allegation (married twice) that much irritated the BJP leader as it amounted to “character assassination”.
Adding as the chorus of MP, several parliamentarians demanded the government’s action.
In fact, Sadananada Gowda, the law minister hastily rose to assure the MPs that the government took the matter "seriously'' and would take the required action soon. Bala, whose constituency is Misrikh in Uttar Pradesh, strictly said, she would not rest in peace, till the culprits are brought to book.
Anju Bala has raised the issue in Zero Hour saying that, she came to know of her 'death' through a social media post, when her secretary received a phone call from Mumbai, after she participated in a women's conference, last week.
The caller sought to know whether the programme in which she had recited a poem was held long back as she was shown "dead" on March 3rd in Delhi on Wikipedia. Besides, she even alleged upon the baseless claims of her personal life.
Speaking to the media, Bala said, “I was shocked that social media was being used for character assassination. My husband has two names and I got married to him in 2008.
Instead the Wikipedia entry showed me as having been married to two different people. This really upset me. I will not rest in peace till I have brought the culprits to book.''
