A truck drivers negligence in Rajahmundry resulted in 19 poor agricultural labourers death in Rajahmundry.

In the early morning today, a group of 35 agricultural laborers are travelling in a truck, with the construction material in it.

As the material weighs very high, the truck was suddenly overturn, which left 16 people dead and rest others injured.

After they were buried in the clinker material, the victims died due to suffocation, as the 12-tyre truck fell on the roadside at Gandepalli village in East Godavari district.

Eight persons suffered severe injuries in the accident and are admitted in Rajahmundry government hospital. Rest others are just out of the danger with minor cracks on the hands and legs.

Not overload, truck accident is due to drivers negligence? 

If overload is considered to be the reason for the accident, a few of the workers say that, the accident took place as the driver felt sleepy and thus lost the control over the wheel. Strengthening the reason, the driver and cleaner of the truck are currently missing.

Andhra Pradesh state finance minister, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, belonging to East Godavari district, visited the place and consoled the dead victims families and also announced Rs. 2 lakhs as ex-gratia to all the families of the dead victims.   

Speaking about the issue, the minister said, “Though the government is taking enough security measures to avoid these accidents, due to the negligence of the drivers, unfortunately, still the accidents are continuing.

“In this case, this vehicle is not involved in the accident with any other vehicle. The vehicle itself tilted,” he said.

Along with Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, even Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister  Chandrababu Naidu, YSRCP chief Jagan and also several other AP leaders expressed their condolences over the death of the agricultural labourers.
