“The famous Aurangzeb road in Delhi is officially announced to be to be renamed as Abdul Kalam road.
It is more than a month, we lost a true leader, Abdul Kalam and meanwhile, his followers and fans across the world, are trying to express their love towards him, in various types. Now it is the time for New Delhi Municipal Corporation, to express its love.
The Municipal Corporation recently took the decision to replace Aurangzeb name to the famous road in Delhi, with Abdul Kalam name.
Mahesh Girri, man behind Abdul Kalam road in Delhi
The proposal came into the light after, BJP Lok Sabha MP representing east Delhi Mahesh Girri, had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, regarding the replacement of the name. He wrote to Modi and also Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding this. The letter read:
“Whenever we remember Aurangzeb, we think about cruelty and torture. We do not want to be reminded of that. A P J Abdul Kalam, on the other hand, is known for his love for the nation, his loyalty to the country, his generosity and kindness. We need to correct the mistakes made in our history.”
Mahesh further added, "In my opinion, this will be a great way of preserving Dr Kalam's memories and legacy forever."
Taj Mansingh hotel near India Gate is the start of Aurangzeb road and joins Safdarjung Road near the official residence of the Prime Minister. Aurangzeb Road is identified as the richest road in the country. Most of the properties on this road, value some crores.
However, regardless of mentioning Abdul Kalam name at any public place, his teachings, his humanity, will always act as blessings, to all his followers across the world.
